Positive Aspects - A free new email newsletter EDITOR'S NOTESHi Everyone,Yes - you've guessed it - we've been on holiday again! Boring isn't it! On the last week of January, we took a last minute trip to Axamer Lizum, in Austria. No, we had never heard of it either, but apparently the Winter Olympics were held there some years back. One of the good bits was it was only a twenty minute transfer from Innsbruck, flying from Hurn. Our hotel was in the village of Birgitz, with another twenty minute ride in the ski-bus up to Axamer. The views were stunning, being surrounded by mountains. Luckily, it had snowed the night before, so there was plenty of the white stuff. We ascended to the top of the mountain via a funicular railway - (beats a chairlift anyday!) - and arrived at the mountain restaurant. One side was the run which was formerly the Women's Downhill, and the other side was the Men's Downhill. It was blowing a gale up here and both runs looked steep & icy, so discretion being the better part of valour, we had a gluevine outside the café, and went back on the railway! Next day, we went over to Mutters and the runs here were much more friendly looking, so we got our ski legs back on the nursery slopes & then we were off. Stopping has never been my good point - which doesn't help! So Jim bullied me into making a proper parallel type stop on each turn - I wasn't happy but it did the trick. Next day I came down looking like an Olympic skier - well nearly!! By the Friday, there had been no further snow and the grass was poking up in places, so we went to Innsbruck for the day, then time to come back home. My thanks to Jim for his help with the "technical bits". Hope you all have a great Easter Mary DATES FOR YOUR DIARIES: April 24th - Annual General Meeting 6.30pm Wimborne Community & Resource Centre May 28th - Verwood Carnival Watch this space - Fete and Dog Show July 15th - Sporting Chance - at Bryanston School, from 10am. These caseworkers carry out an assessment of the needs of the carer, which is separate to the person being cared for. The caseworkers will also offer one to one support to carers, from a listening ear to assistance with a variety of tasks and challenges. They will provide support to carer's groups. They also have a wealth of information on training courses, events, groups and other resources of particular interest to carers.
